Question: How did you get started with sports growing up?
Answer: “I’m a people person and I like to do different things. A book is nice, but I need to do something more hands-on. My whole life, I’ve belonged to several different groups. My mother was quite social, so I may have gotten that personality trait from her. She always belonged to a number of different groups and did a lot of things. When I was in my house, I was in two different quilting guilds and now since I’ve picked up knitting, I’ve joined the needle workers group. Being in groups, I feel part of something. I like the feeling of belonging. I think it’s important to always be connected with people. A good group has different people, ideas, and ways to do things. The needle working group is great because we have so many different people. I look forward to seeing each of them to hear what they’ll say every week, because everyone there is so different. I thrive on that. I enjoy hearing other people’s perspective on things. Expanding your ideas and feelings with other people is important, and my groups help me do that.” – Vi Schliecher, resident Friendship Village Chesterfield

The tex and photo above are part of a year-long project called We Are Friendship Village. We are gathering these photos and brief interviews for Friendship Village’s website’s blog section each day as we chat with residents at Friendship Village Chesterfield and Friendship Village Sunset Hills. We want to give a snapshot introduction to the residents who make up our wonderful senior living communities and give some bit of insight into something you might not know about them. It’s always easier to make new friends when you know a little about them!
At year’s end, we will publish A BOOK featuring the wonderful residents who participated AND PARTICIPANTS GET A FREE COPY OF THE BOOK! During this year, we will also be sharing these photos and text on Facebook and other social media such as Instagram, so keep an eye out for them! And you can follow the hashtag #WeAreFriendshipVillage to stay up to date!
We’re excited for this great chance to share a bit about who we are! Residents’ participation takes just a few minutes, so it won’t take much time to be a part of it!!
Want to participate (or know someone else who might want to?), Please give us a call at (314) 270-7837 or send an email to nagysteve@fvstl.com or drop by the marketing suites in Sunset Hills or Chesterfield. We have 365 of these to do over the course of the year, so everyone is welcome!
We’re looking forward to talking with folks as we get to share more about the senior living residents who are making our Friendship Village retirement communities so wonderful!
Thanks!
